In society, there is always a group of people who silently work in public welfare undertakings, conveying warmth and hope through practical actions. Shanghai Hubang Intelligent Rehabilitation Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hubang") is one of these public welfare ambassadors. For many years, Hubang has been committed to bringing the convenience of technology to millions of households, especially in the field of elderly and disabled assistance, and has devoted a lot of effort. Today, our footsteps lead us into a special family - Professor Wu Xuezhi's home.

As early as ten years ago, Professor Wu Xuezhi was already a user of the Hubang wheelchair. Recently, he has purchased a semi carbon electric wheelchair from HuBang, further enhancing the convenience of his life. This time, the HuBang public welfare team not only came to visit and deeply understand Professor Wu's legendary life story, but also personally installed wheelchair accessories for him, ensuring that he can enjoy more intimate and comfortable services in daily use.

Professor Wu Xuezhi's name carries countless honors and achievements. Before retirement, he was the deputy director of the Shanghai West Technical Exchange Station of the All China Federation of Trade Unions, the vice chairman of the Brush Committee of the China Electroplating Association, and the executive director of the National Electric Brush Plating Cooperation Group. In the field of technology, he is a true leader. In 1994, he won the first prize for excellent inventions in Shanghai. In 1995, he won the gold medal for inventions and patents at the Shanghai Science and Technology Festival. In 1996, he was also recognized by the National Federation of Trade Unions for outstanding scientific and technological achievements. In addition, he also holds three patents and 21 academic papers, each of which reflects his professional spirit.

However, Professor Wu, who retired in 2002, chose a completely different path - patchwork art. This choice may seem unbelievable to outsiders, but for Professor Wu, it is a spiritual destination. A chance encounter led him to form a bond with patchwork, and from then on, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to this seemingly niche yet limitless art form. Nowadays, Professor Wu is not only the president of the national patchwork salon, but also the president of the organizing committee of the Shanghai International Patchwork Art Festival in China, as well as a judge for multiple domestic and international patchwork exhibitions. His name has become a symbol of the patchwork art world.

In our conversation with Professor Wu, we deeply felt his love and persistence for life. He mentioned that elderly people nowadays are paying more and more attention to health and wellness, having a wide range of interests and hobbies, and communicating more with others are important ways to maintain physical and mental health. Professor Wu used his own experience as an example to explain how patchwork became a good medicine for his later years. Faced with common elderly diseases such as lower back pain and knee joint pain, whenever immersed in patchwork creation, he seems to forget all the discomfort and devote himself wholeheartedly to the ocean of art, enjoying the tranquility and satisfaction from the inside out.

Professor Wu also shared some misunderstandings and challenges he encountered in his patchwork career. Some people believe that patchwork is the exclusive domain of women, and it seems that men are not "high-end" enough to engage in this profession. Professor Wu responded to this with his past technological achievements. He mentioned that the successful launch of the Fengyun-2 meteorological satellite in 1997 was inseparable from his patented technology - "electric brush plated soft anode".

In 1997, Professor Wu Xuezhi participated in the successful launch of Fengyun-2 meteorological satellite

During that time, he worked day and night, successfully repairing key components of the satellite. The hardships and achievements of this work are beyond the imagination of outsiders. Professor Wu uses his own experience to tell the world that regardless of gender, as long as one puts in the effort, any field can shine brightly.
